Accessibility at SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference

SkillsUSA strives to ensure inclusive participation in all of our programs, including the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference. As we prepare for NLSC in Atlanta, please review the information below about accommodations, and information about our key conference venues.

Accommodation Requests

Attendees

The deadline for submitting accommodation requests for NLSC 2025 is May 24, 2025.

NLSC Attendees must submit accommodation requests 30 days prior to NLSC. Requests made after the deadline may not be honored, although SkillsUSA will do its best to work with individuals.

Championships Competitors

The deadline for submitting accommodation requests to be used during the 2025 SkillsUSA Championships is June 17, 2024.

Accommodation requests for the SkillsUSA Championships must be approved by the Office of Championships prior to any competition.

Requests not identified in the registration system must be made by a competitor, advisor, or state director at least 1 week prior to any competition.

Emergency competitor substitutions – Accommodation requests in such instances will be handled on an individual basis. SkillsUSA will do its best to respond in such instances, however approval cannot be guaranteed.

Captioning & ASL Interpreting

ASL Interpreting

To request ASL interpreting at NLSC, please submit an accommodations request.

Captioning

The NLSC Opening Ceremony and the Award Sessions held at State Farm Arena will have live CART captions. Other events will also include AI-generated captions. All captioned events will be identified on the events schedule.

Accessible Housing

SkillsUSA ensures ADA compliant rooms are available in each host hotel for NLSC. If you are in need of an ADA accessible room while in Atlanta for NLSC, please contact SkillsUSANLSC@hpnglobal.com.

Service Animals

SkillsUSA and our host venues the Georgia World Congress Center and State Farm Arena welcome leashed service animals to NLSC. Animals that serve the role of comfort, therapy, or emotional support do not meet this definition and may not be permitted. 

Relief Areas

No pre-designated relief areas are provided indoors of the GWCC or State Farm Arena. The International Plaza has been identified as an outdoor relief area near both venues. Staff at the State Farm Arena will work with attendees to facilitate easy exit and re-entry for animal relief.

Transportation

SkillsUSA can assist attendees with ADA accessible transportation between events sites. To request or inquire about ADA transportation, please use the Accessibility Accommodations request form. 

Mobility Devices

SkillsUSA welcomes the use of mobility devices, including wheelchairs, 3- or 4-wheel scooters, walkers, canes, and crutches. 

Rental

The Georgia World Congress Center works with Georgia Mobility to provide scooters available to rent for the public. Pick up is available onsite from Building A/B, Building C, or it can be received at your hotel. 

 

The GWCC also has a limited number of manual push wheelchairs available free of charge at the Information Desk in the Registration Hall. An ID is required to check-out a wheelchair.  

Venues 

SkillsUSA hosts its national functions at sites that are fully ADA compliant. Review the venue specific information below for details regarding the GWCC and State Farm Arena.

Georgia World Congress Center ADA Information

All facilities on the GWCC campus are ADA compliant. Here is a link to the GWCC event space virtual tour to use as a reference. 

  • Parking: All GWCC parking lots offer ADA parking for guests. In the covered parking decks, the ADA spaces are usually closest to the elevator banks within the parking lot. The open lots have parking close to the entrance and Yellow Lot has ADA parking around the perimeter of the lot.

  • Multiple family restrooms are located in Building C, please see the map for specific locations.

State Farm Arena ADA Information

State Farm Arena is dedicated to helping every individual. Reserved seating tickets will be provided to those who have requested such an accommodation. There are over 100 ADA seating opportunities within State Farm Arena, as well as companion seating.

100-Level

  • 8-10 seats in each of the following sections: 106, 107, 108, 109, 110, 112, 113, 114, 115, 116, 118, 119, and 121

200-Level

  • 8-10 seats in the following sections: 209, 222 and 223

  • 2-4 seats in the following sections: 214, 215, 216 and 217

Trevor Project
Crisis counselors are trained to answer calls, chats, or texts from LGBTQ young people who reach out on our free, confidential and secure 24/7 service when they are struggling with issues such as coming out, LGBTQ identity, depression, and suicide. www.thetrevorproject.org/crisis-services/

SAMHSA Diaster Distress Helpline
"The Disaster Distress Helpline (DDH) is the first national hotline dedicated to providing year-round disaster crisis counseling. Family Restrooms

State Farm Arena 

Family restrooms are located in the following areas:

  • Inside Gate 3

  • Inside Gate 6

  • On the 100 Level outside of the Section 106-107 entrance

  • On the 200 Level outside of the Section 220 entrance

  • On the 200 Level outside of the Section 227 entrance

GWCC 

Family restrooms are located in the following areas:

  • Building C:

  • 300 Level near Georgia Ballroom

  • 100 Level across from C102 Auditorium

 

Mother's/Nursing Room

State Farm Arena 
The Mother's Room/Nursing Room is located inside of Gate 1, next to the Guest Service Center. Diaper bags accompanying a child are exempt from the size requirement policy but are subject to search. Parents may bring in plastic bottles of formula or milk inside the arena.

GWCC 
The Mother's Room/Nursing Room is called the Mamava pod and is located in the A/B Registration hallway below the Thomas Murphy Ballroom inside GWCC.
